Gil rolled the dough between his hands to set on the tray, only to have to turn and swat at hands, “Jake! Burrow! Stop trying to eat raw cookie dou- Bess I see you get away from that!” The Purrloin/Yamask fusion halted, mouth still parted, clearly about to grab the spoon he’d used to mix the dough, but pulled back to sit on the table and wash a paw, as though she’d never considered crime a day in her life. A bold lie for a Pokemon that lived in the Scourge. “What’s going on?” Fabron stuck his head in, as Gil tried desperately to wrangle Jake and Burrow from just eating the dough, “are you baking something?” “Yeah, pussy cat pie- It was a joke Burrow, do not threaten me, Fabron can I have a hand?” Gil looked to him pleadingly, the other grunt rubbed the fur on his face with his prosthetic hand thoughtfully, as though considering it. “Or… I could eat the dough.” “Fabron.” He laughed and looped over, to pull Jake and Burrow away from Gil, “hey guys, trust me, what he’s making tastes

The warnings of the interns echoed in Noah’s ears as he headed deeper into the mines, but they more served to spur him on. Ahead of him, Oersted prowled low to the ground, ears pinned back as he occasionally rubbed against the wall, but he could not get off the harness Noah had gotten. It wrapped around his chest, so that a light could shine down the tunnel ahead of him. “Sorry buddy, I know, but it’s for safety and stuff.” At least Spotter didn’t seem to mind his, easily padding along down the tunnel, head raised to scent the air every so often, before trotting ahead quickly, to keep up with his bestie. Oersted seemed more tolerant of the harness when Spotter slid underneath him and between his front legs to trot ahead, the light casting shadows on the wall. “Listen, you’ll be grateful for that if we run into the Sableye that live down here,” he warned Oersted, the cat simply chuffed at him and continued walking. Noah had chosen to go splunking not out of any love for the hobby

Noah laughed as he leaned against the railing of his porch, watching as Oersted leapt about in the snow, and Spotter leapt after him, the Purrloin landing in all the places the much larger cat left imprints. Oersted turned, to watch Spotter leapt after him, before with a roar, knocking a pile of snow onto the Purrloin. Spotter let out a startled cry, but Noah didn’t need to worry. Within seconds, his starter had burrowed his way out, shaking snow off him, to run at and leap onto Oersted, the two playing a strange game of tag through the snow. Noah wrapped his hands around his warm mug of coffee and raised it to take a sip, continuing to watch his Pokemon play. He was learning a lot about Oersted, every day it seemed he discovered something new about the legendary. The recent snowfall, much like the day he’d met him, proved that the playfulness he’d seen that day had not been a fluke. Oersted, a Chien-Pao, a Pokemon known for ruin, loved to play in the snow. Was a that a species

“Whoa!” Branson called, and the team came to a halt, panting excitedly as he hopped off the sled to run along side it, until it came to a halt. “Good.” Branson turned to the figure waiting and raised one hand in greeting. “Uh, hey Astra. Are you all doing alright?” The elite four member shrugged their shoulders, “we were hoping to try to retake the region, but Helios wants to wait a bit longer. I think the volcano eruption made them nervous.” They turned to look towards the horizon where the volcano that had threatened the region loomed, and then back to Branson. “Is everyone doing alright?” “Largely. Scourge haven’t caused too much trouble, I think they’re settling in for winter like everyone else.” Branson rubbed his hands together to get warmth in them, even with the fur he could feel the cold, “which reminds me, I did bring hot chocolate if you all wanted some. I didn’t know for sure.” Astra shifted his cape, which he’d had wrapped around his shoulders when Branson had first

“For Mew’s sake, you’d think it was our child.” Gil threw a grape at Spring, which missed, and Squeakers leapt off him to run after it, dodging where Spring was pacing to snag his treat and run under the desk with it. He was peering out from under the chair as he nibbled on it, both he and Gil watching as Spring paced back and forth along the length of the room. “I…” They sighed and looked over at Gil, reaching up to shove their messy hair out of their face, Gil frowned and sat up, as they started to speak. “I do not mean to fret this much and yet I cannot help it, how it burdens my heart, to worry about my grunts, our grunts, we made this team to show the value of Eclipse’s discoveries, of our own scientific progress, and it is dangerous, we are known to be dangerous, if something were to go wrong we could not get someone out here to help Bones and then Dante would be distraught, as would we all, and we will be raising a child, a child! “Hike up!” Branson yelled and the team lunged forward, the sled lurching after them as they scrambled down the trail. He would need to work with them on a smoother start, but the team was doing better. Eira was a fantastic choice for lead dog. Maverik he had finally caved on and made a swing dog, using the dog’s impulsiveness and energy for good, and having Eira to keep him in line as they ran. Which left poor Deimos in the worst position on the team. She was doing a good job but she was not meant to be a wheel dog, the way she ran, she’d make a great team dog, or a fellow swing dog for Maverick. She was not meant to be a wheel dog. He’d need another Growlithe for that, he thought. For now though, his focus needed to be on his team, how Eira jerked the line to pull Maverick back into position as they ran, how Deimos was trying to manage the sled (the lightest one Branson had been able to get), how they were actually shaping into a team. He could probably add a few more dogs. He

Gil strode through the doors to their battle arena, only to pause, his own training plans going on hold as he came across a strange sight in the middle of the floor. Lukas doing science was not a strange sight, not really. All of them had some passion for it, given the Scourge's deep dives into researching things like clones, dittos, sync forms and legendaries. But some of them were more geared toward it than others and Lukas was one of those, he was one of the ones that threw himself entirely into in it in a way that GIl suspected might frighten everyone but Fall, who shared his passion. But the trainer was staring at four various Nyaliens? All of who kept firing Hyper Beams at a training dummy, while Lukas made notes on his paper, occasionally pausing to give instructions, before going back to his notes. Finally he called them off, setting his pencil down to shake out his hand, only to pick it back up, and look at his Nyaliens again. "Alright, Zippy, you first." He ordered, and

Imris’s feet hit the ground running, Ordis jumping from the locked bike to follow him as Imris raced through paths of stalls, his ears pricked and eyes scanning for his friends. “Oi! Imris, over here!” He cut a sharp turn to jump over a fence, he heard some of the adults laugh, and someone remark “wouldn’t know he broke his pelvis that one year would you?” as he raced through where they were eating, to where Meatball was leaning against the fence, the Galar teen slammed a fist into his palm as Imris ran up, panting. “Wheew, bzzt, wheew” Ordis also somehow sounded out of breath, which was impressive for a Rotom, though Imris caught his easily, eyes bright, “right, you haven’t scared out all the ghosts then?” “Nah mate, waiting for you, though I think a few of us might’ve chickened out this year.” Meatball shrugged, “or gone to get cider as a couple.” “Please, the couple that busts together stays together.” Fried folded her arms, while Imris raised his eyebrows and found the inner

Vincent raced after the Sabrit, grateful for how her light fur seemed to glow in the dark hallways of the mines, “Pouncival, slow down!” The Sabrit’s sprint stuttered to an excited trot and finally slowed to a walk, looking up at him as though to ask “well, what’s keeping you?” Vincent bent down to try and grab her, only for the kitten to dart out of reach, “little shit, are you that excited to find a friend down here?” Hopefully another fossil, and not that she’d be carried off by a Possesshine or who knew what. That new Entei or something. But she didn’t dart far, and pawed at a bit of the dirt before darting further into the mines, leaving Vincent to sigh and follow. “The interns won’t let us stay forever Pouncival, so pick a place for use to dig!” he ordered, and while she flicked an ear, Vincent very much doubted she’d really listened to him. At least she was getting her energy out, and that was something. She sniffed at the ground, and then up the wall, as though on the

Ryan stepped into the barn, his hand resting on Buster as he guided the Tauros in to his stall for the evening, “that’s a good boy.” Buster snorted and stamped but shuffled into the stall to start feeding from his haybale, Ryan closed the gate behind him clapping his hand against the wood. “It never got so cold in Almia did it?” he asked, looking around the barn in awe at what was now his, in this region so far and different from his home, “A heater in the barn. Arceus.” Buster snorted and Ryan leaned on the fence, “well, I’m sure the mountains got cold but not where we grew up. Never enough that I had to worry about slipping on the ice, or you slipping for that matter.” He had no idea what he’d do if Buster got seriously hurt here, when he was by himself. Himself, Cream Soda, and Buster. What a place to find themselves. No. He did know what he’d do. He’d fix it as best he could, and then call his parents, or Laura, and they’d fix it. They would guide him through it, and he’d
